SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Pulp Modern is a fiction journal that publishes exciting, genre fiction.  Those genres include crime, horror, science fiction, and westerns.  Pulp Modern would like to see more submissions that mix genre with modern and postmodern elements.  Think Junot Diaz meets Jim Thompson (an outstanding example from issue one would be Copper Smith's story "Feel Good Hit of the Summer"). Stories should be between 2000 and 5000 words.  At this time, there will be no serializations unless requested by the editor.

Pulp Modern will compensate writers with one (1) contributor's copy of the journal until the journal begins to actually make money.

Pulp Modern claims the following publication rights: First English-language Rights, Exclusive Rights, English-language Periodical Rights, World Periodical Rights, Web/Internet Rights, and Electronic Distribution Rights.  Per the deal memo signed with each writer and artist, all rights will revert back to the writer twelve-months after initial publication.  Should Pulp Modern choose to create an anthology of previously published work, new rights will be negotiated.

Pulp Modern will NOT CONSIDER simultaneous submissions (beginning April 1, 2013).

Pulp Modern will NO LONGER publish reprints unless they are requested by the editor.

Pulp Modern will not accept poetry at this time.
